Join us in-person in Portland, Oregon, at Reedwood Friends Church for a special event celebrating the legacy of intervisitation and bonds of friendship between yearly meetings that the women’s group, Multwood, has built throughout the decades.

Multwood, a group started in the 1980s, was made up of women from two yearly meetings that were not speaking to one another. This group of women decided to break those lines and learn about each other through monthly discussions and shared tea. They talked about theology, about their lives, and they became friends. The group eventually gave rise to the Pacific Northwest Quaker Women’s Theology Conference that met every two years and brought people together from throughout the United States and Canada.

Neither group has met for several years now yet their legacy remains in the culture they created and the lives they touched. This event honors that legacy and the women who began it.

Open to all, the event will begin with Multwood women sharing what it was like to cross those dividing lines and become friends then we’ll open it for all people to share what this legacy has meant to them. Margery Post Abbott’s Pendle Hill pamphlet about this group (#323) will also be available to take home and read.

Come join us for this time together and for a potluck dinner afterward.
