The 2026 Section Meeting, held online on March 21, 2026, brought over 300 Friends together under the theme “Love Your Neighbor.” In a time of division and fear, we started our time by spending time strengthening our community through shared conversation in home groups.
Through discernment and careful consideration, we carried forward the business of FWCC including such business as nominations and financial reports. We listened to one another and the light within as we deepened bonds of fellowship across our Section’s diverse traditions and cultures.
During our blended worship, Walter Shore shared a beautiful rendition of the song, “Friends Will Be Friends Forever,” both singing and signing ASL to the lyrics. We also enjoyed Sandra Elizabeth Espinoza’s hymn, “Buscando la Verdad,” written for our hymn contest last year. Videos of both are below.
Our plenary speaker, Colin Saxton, spoke about the Bible story, the Good Samaritan, found in Luke 10: 25-37. He helped us see new meanings within the story, and encouraged us to find ways to be love in the world around us, especially when it’s not the easy thing to do.
1. Am I a neighbor who is easy or hard to love?
2. What personal challenges do I face when it comes to loving my neighbor?
3. Is my Meeting/Church a community where people find rest, healing, and the support they need to live whole and faithful lives?
Our closing prayer: Almighty God, Creator of heaven and earth, we thank you today for allowing us to gather together as friends and brothers and sisters in Christ. We thank you for the life and health you give us. We also ask that you always help us to do your will. Have mercy on all of humanity and on the world as we live through difficult times. Thank you for all your blessings. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
