The deadline for English-speaking applications to join the FWCC Traveling Ministry Corps in 2018 has been extended to OCTOBER 20, 2017.
Applicants of all ages, from any affiliated yearly meeting, are encouraged to consider this calling. More information about the program is included with the application form – click on the link below.
FWCC accepts applications from Friends who express concerns that are deeply rooted in the Spirit, and who can transcend differences and division to seek broader unity in the Light. FWCC provides training, support, and accountability for those Friends who are chosen to travel in this ministry. Funding is available to support the travel expenses of the members of the Traveling Ministry Corps.
Given the brief window for applications to be received, reference letters from clearness committees or pastors or other releases to travel in the ministry will not be required at time of application but must be received by November 15, 2017.
The 2018 training retreat for English-speaking members of the Traveling Ministry Corps will be held in March in the United States.
Members of the Traveling Ministry Corps may be asked to lead a weekend workshop, or a mid-week worship sharing after a potluck supper, or bring a message to worship, or to attend a regularly scheduled Bible Study or other small group with simply a willingness to participate as Way opens and the Holy Spirit leads. Each visit is customized to reflect the gifts of the minister and to meet the interests and needs of the host meeting and others in the local area.
Local Friends Churches, Monthly and Quarterly Meetings in the Americas can request a traveling minister who speaks their local language. Host meetings are expected to cover the housing, meals and local transportation for the minister while he or she is in their area.
